Non-Edible High Performance Jatropha – F1 Hybrids
The F1 hybrid seeds are the product of a crosses between two elite parent inbreds. Jatropower’s F1 hybrid seeds show high hybrid vigour in terms of robustness in growth and seed yield as can be seen from the graph below (with JPH1 as example).
Presently Jatropower can supply two F1 hybrid seeds of Jatropha curcas.
JPH1
JPH1 is the first ever commercially marketed F1 hybrid seed of Jatropha curcas.

- Plant with dense canopy, robust growth
- Early, profuse and continuous flowering
- High number of fruits per bunch
- Long fruiting season
- Good resistance to drought and against diseases
- Average seed weight: > 0.65g, Kernel % = 65
- Average oil content in seed: 37% w/w
- Yield expectation based on results under our experimental conditions and assuming adequate plantation management: around 4 tonnes of dry seeds per ha in year 5

JPH2
JPH2 is the second F1 Hybrid jatropha seeds in Jatropower’s portfolio. Its production has been achieved in scalable hybrid production farm, where emasculation of the male plants is not required.
This plant also shows high hybrid vigour in terms of growth and seed yield.
